Sahel Realignments
How shifting alliances across the Sahel are reshaping regional defence architecture and business risk.
The Sahel Realignments roundtable convenes senior practitioners from strategic affairs, diplomacy, business, and civil society to work through what the current shifts across the Sahel mean for the wider region, and specifically for the countries of the North.
Format
A closed, Chatham House rule discussion of 15 to 20 participants. Half a day, structured across three sessions: (1) reading the current landscape, (2) implications for the North, (3) practical postures for the next 12, 18 months.
Key questions
- What is the operating logic of the new defence arrangements in the Sahel, and how durable are they?
- How are trade corridors, migration flows, and informal economies being reshaped in practice?
- Where are the immediate exposure points for firms and institutions with cross border operations?
- What does a credible regional response from the North look like, diplomatically, economically, operationally?
Outputs
A closed door briefing note is circulated to participants within ten working days. Where consented, not attributed excerpts inform a subsequent piece for C.R.C Review.
